Is he starting to show some of the power that we have wanted? I know his average still sucks, but if he can start hitting for power it will improve.

I don't think he'll ever be a consistent .300 hitter.

I'd like to see him hit .275 though --- and I think a few extra HR's will improve his confidence.

He is young enough and I could care less about average if we finally get a 30+ HR hitter on the squad.
My gosh how long has it been now?
NO MORE SMALL BALL!!

The guy is a ball crusher the question has been if he can make enough contact to be effective. Morneau has more natural power than any player we have seen in a Twins uniform sense maybe Harmon K. The problem has been him making contact so in this case his average is important the more he makes contact the more home runs he will hit. If Morneau ever hits 275 he will be a 40 home run guy.

1987 since the last 30 HR season by a Twin, IIRC.

That's sad.
