Just wondering how many of you out there still think its a good idea to get rid of this guy. I said from the beginning that all it would take is some time for him to develop. Give him some playing time and let him learn from his mistakes and he is going to be a very good player. He has shown that he can get to the rim whenever he wants, he just has to learn when to take those drives and when to pass it off. His defense is also not as bad as everyone was saying it was coming out of college. Over time this should get better also. If we get rid of him it better be part of a package that has an all-star coming back to the team. Getting rid of him in my opinion is a bad move.

Watching McCants play tonight almost made me forget about how tough it's been being a Twolves fan this season.

In last Sunday's Strib, there was a picture of a North Carolina women's basketball player by the name of Rashanda McCants. Does anyone know if this is our guy's sister? I thought that there is a definite resemblence.

I have to admit, I have been very tough on McCants and I admit that I am eating crow right now. There were a few times this year where I questioned if he would ever get it, and I guess I was wrong. He proved me wrong and this time I am happy to admit I am wrong.

I just hope he can keep it up.

i wouldve dealt him in the right situation for a proven player..hes not always going to only miss 2 shots, hes only done that twice all year..obviously there is a certain amount of time needed for the guy to develop, and we should hold onto him unless a big trade offer comes our way this offseason..i wouldve traded him for artest in a heartbeat

yes they're siblings from what i read on the Strib once

Rashad McCants is showing flashes of being a solid NBA player. Now all we need to do is get a younger Ervin Johnson, because while Banks/Davis/Hassell/KG will be fine as they develop chemistry, Mark Blount should not be our starting center.

I didn't see tonights game so if anyone saw it can you tell me how McCants played. I see he had 21 points but how did he score and how did he do overall? Thanks.

He was okay on defense. He did get a couple of ticky-tack fouls, but that'll improve over time

On offense, I felt that at times, the team wasn't going to him enough.

The best thing a team can do in the NBA is play a hot hand until it's not hot anymore. We weren't going to McCants enough. McCants needs to move around on offense more, to get the ball. If he had gotten some more shots, I could easily see him scoring 30 or more tonight.

He did real well, showed both desire and emotion. Played good D hit 3 of 3 on 3's, 7 of 9 from the field had 1 steal and a 6 boards in 29 minutes. If we could have a game like this from him every night we'd all be very pleased. I also must say Justin Reed was pretty impressive as well, scoring 14 points.

the team absolutely needs mccants to do more of this night in and night out. hopefully casey gives him 20+ minutes from here on out.

would i not move mccants if i thought there was a deal out there that would make this team better? no. he would be gone. but as this team is currently constructed, we need his production.

we need to move a guard or two in the offseason for size.

McCants is quite sneaky around the basket grabbing boards and getting open for easy shots. That is what suprises me the most about him. To say him scoring 20 or 21 points, like he did last night, is a suprise would be wrong. I don't think its a suprise to anyone that McCants could put up 20 in that many minutes. I am suprised to hear though that he has started staying late after practice and he is working harder for his minutes. I honestly didn't think Casey would be able to get through to this kid. I figured the outcome would be where McCants would always have a half-*** demeanor but be so gifted at scoring that Casey would have no choice but to play him. I guess in a round about way I am actually giving some credit to Casey here. Somehow he's starting to get through to him. If McCants can continue to get better at both sides we will at least have or sixth man spot filled for a time to come.

the other night during the bulls game, I believe one of the announcers was praising mcants development and saying it's just a matter of time until he's in the starting lineup....personally i think we're a long ways away from that, but if it becomes the case who do we sit? with kg, ricky, and a pg(banks) being locks, trenton hassel would seem to be the only player you could bring off the bench but he's playing so well and has earned his spot, plus he's our defensive stopper...i dont see how we could start mcants anytime in the near future....

I like Mccants in the 6th man role. His defensive issues aren't as glaring and he packs an offensive punch off the bench. Seems like a perfect fit to me. You don't need to have 3 guys in the starting line-up capable of 20 pts per.

Once they moved Blount to the starting line-up who is only effective on the offensive end, it means it is absolutely necessary to have McCants play the 6th man role as the scoring punch off the bench.

Think of it like what Chicago did last year- Gordon was the 6th man because he was a poor defender, and their center, Curry, could only score. (Although, Curry is a better offensive weapon than Blount.) This year without Curry, they needed more firepower in the starting line-up so they are now starting Gordon.

McCant's role was drawn comparison to Gordon's last year.

I want to start McCants real bad but I see the point you guys are making too. My idea is to start McCants/Davis/Banks to start the game with a BANG but if it backfires we're basically screw scoring-wise off the bench. For right now McCant's role off the bench is perfect. Next year though I am prepare to start him.

I guess I will agree to keep him on the bench but I will loby quite hard for him to get alot of minutes. Has he yet to play over 30 minutes in a game????
