The source who said the deal is done seemed very confident that Iverson will be a Timberwolf. He also said that the deal would be announced Tuesday. ESPN has also been saying that a deal may be announced on Tuesday. It's looking more and more like this guy could be right.
Here's the post discussing it:
I don't blame you for not having faith. Hard to with this GM's track record. I will remind you though, he did pull off deals to bring in Spree and Sam when that didn't seem possible. So even McHale can get it right once in a while.
I think its us. I really do. None of the other teams make sense. Boston has better talent to offer, but you can not trade your franchise player to your main rival in your division and give them an instant playoff contender for the next few years. You just can't do that. I would be stunned if that happened. I believe that is why it didn't happen this summer. They were enticed by Boston's young players, but in the end, they just couldn't stomach it. Don't see how that changes.
The other teams that have the right kind of packages don't make any sense at all. Teams like Dallas, New Orleans, Charlotte, etc... make no sense whatsover basketball wise.
I don't see who else it would be but us. It makes sense for them, they get Foye, the guy they wanted all along, and they might even get rid of Webber in this deal too. Plus they get Iverson out of the East. For us, no other player in the NBA makes more sense for Iverson to play with than KG. They are a perfect fit. This gives us a 3 year window to make a run at a title.
I hope my buddy is on point with this one. He was very confident. We'll see. One other thing makes me think he's right and that the deal is already done. He said on Frida that they would announce it Tuesday, and all the key people on espn.com are saying something is going to be done today and announced tonight or Tuesday.
I'm not trying to build the hype here, I am more tallking myself into believing it than anything. If my guys' wrong I'll be the idiot. But I just don't think he is on this one.
