    Are we having FUN yet?

So exactly one year ago today, I started a thread with this same title. This year, no need for the snark. We should be talking about the Twins and enjoying this little taste of success while it lasts.

    The Good
The pitching, particularly the bullpen. Wow, they've been lights out. Pressley is being used in the Miller role, and it's been brilliant.
The defense has been superb. Buxton is awesome out there in center field.
Sano showing some life. I like him at 1B.
    The seventh inning ....

    The Bad
    Mauer has been brutal.
Buxton has been even more brutal, at least at the plate. He looks hopelessly overmatched.
Our DH occasionally bats ninth ....

Yes, the pitching until today has been good, not just the bullpen.

No, the dang batting order. Why is Buxton batting 3rd? It makes no sense and just goes and strikes out a ton.

Mauer, uh that may be the sound of your career being over. Brutal at the plate is correct.

Why on earth did they get such an early home opener? Maybe being so cold worked because they finally won.

Fix the batting order. Get a DH who can hit and not utility role players. I think that means you bring Park in and try him.

Park or Vargas, either one has to be a bigger threat at DH. I think you have to keep rolling with Buxton, try to let him hit his way out of it. He does enough defensively that you can afford to be patient with him at the plate. Mauer should be fully a platoon player at this point. Get Sano some time at 1B.

Hope the pitching holds up. It's not reasonable to expect it to continue as it's started, but maybe they can maintain it at some level and keep this team relevant deep into the summer.

Twins are 7-5 but the hitting is not good. Seeing the top teams in the Division this week will be interesting. If they can go 4-3 it would be a good sign. I just don't see a team hitting this poorly being able to keep it up.

Yeah there are some players who are just not doing it on offense.
I saw some of yesterdays game. Buxton is totally over whelmed at the plate. And he blew the game with a lackadaisical throw on a shallow fly ball single.
Is his arm that weak that he couldn't throw it harder to home? And not count on the bounce to get it there.

The SP continues to be very solid and they can only hope it remains because until they get some resemblance of hitting, that is what they have to depend on.

Buxton, Rosario, Mauer. At this point, none look like big-league hitters. Watching Joe has just gotten kind of sad.

Buxton has sure come on lately. He's worlds more comfortable at the plate now. Rosario still swings at absolutely everything. Mauer is just playing out his contract until he retires but been some bright spots. Really like that they aren't scared to mix up the lineup game to game.

Rosario had a long on base streak 20 of 22 games or something like that.

The team is improved from the last few years. Get rid of the dead weight like Mauer.

Berrios has an excellent game today his first in MLB 2017.

Vargas seems to be hitting well. And Sano is showing consistent production at the plate.

To bad in baseball you can't just get rid of the dead weight. To be fair Mauer has been hitting better as of late.

Almost June and we're still in first place? Big six-game homestand coming up. Rays and Astros. Is it possible we're deadline buyers this year?

Well if this homestand was the litmus test ... that'd be a fail. 1-5. They're terrible at home (12-18), all but unstoppable on the road (14-5). Very odd.

Couple horrible games killed our chances. The Sunday game hurt the bullpen and that carried over to Monday.

Odd thing I noticed while glancing at the standings this morning. Minnesota and Cleveland sit atop the division (Cleveland is 1 game back, everyone else is 3.5 or more). The top two teams both have losing home records. The bottom three teams all have winning home records.

    Twins 12-18
    Indians 12-14
    Tigers 13-10
    Sox 12-11
    Royals 14-13
