And another big cap hit. Brook Lopez nearing a max deal with the Nyets.

Brook has been very productive when healthy- but he busted his foot twice this year and played 5 games for the Nets.

Note, Eric Gordon is getting a max deal from the Hornets after logging about 9 games for them this season.

    Not that productive...

He doesn't rebound, he doesn't shoot a great % for a big man and other than a few blocks, doesn't appear to be that much of a defender.

He also seems to have peaked as a rookie - his rebounds, blocks and TS% have gotten worse every year of his career.

The biggest issue with these bigs getting paid outsize contracts is what happens next year when Pek is ready to sign.

Denver looks to retain McGee, It will be interesting to see how their negotiations go with him. I know the Wizards traded him in part because he wanted a big pay day and he was so Javele.

Nets can't be the only team over the tax line can they? So not enriching ALL other owners.

touche- I think the Lakers are there too, and the Knicks. A couple teams will need to shed something too- I think the Grizz will need to shed money.

The Mavs continue to be cost conscious- they just signed Kaman to hang out with Dirk.

They amnestied Haywood, and they S=T'ed Mahimi to the Pacers, getting Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones.

Cuban will shop again next year or stay below the cap.

Why do the Nets max out Brook Lopez for four years, when Dwight Howard is going to sign with them next year?

They are in win now mode- and their hand was forced. The Bobcats were going to sign Brook to an offer sheet- so they had to poop or get off the pot.

    They pooped.

Dwightmare will have to deal with another team and his own S+T if he wants to go to the Nets.

He can still do it with Orlando. At that point they would gladly accept Lopez as a compensation for helping in S&T. Lopez is a lot better then nothing.

Orlando wants the Dwightmare to end.

Lopez on a reasonable contract is a lot better than nothing. Lopez on Love's deal is probably more trouble than it is worth for a rebuilding team.

I wonder if the Nets basically nuking their shot at Howard has Howard reconsidering his stance. I wonder if he will now sign an extension for LA (either one) or Dallas. This thing is far from over.

Win now mode and Brook Lopez don't go together.

I guess if they want to try again before the deadline then it makes sense. Can't say I'd want a maxed Lopez though if I'm Orlando.
